Dr. U.S. Awasthi is the Managing Director & CEO of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO). He is known for his innovative work in the Indian agricultural industry. He is a chemical engineer from Banaras Hindu University and ever since, he has been working for betterment of the agricultural sector in India.

With over 50 million members in 40,000 member cooperatives, IFFCO is one of the biggest agricultural cooperatives in the world. IFFCO has five fertiliser production plants in India and holds participating interests in plants around the world, including in the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, and Senegal, in addition to investing in Canada, Peru, and Argentina. Through its various services for the benefit of farmers and rural India, IFFCO has illustrated its active involvement in local communities in India, whether in the fields of education, health, or the supply of potable water.

This platform is an “Indian Cooperative Digital Platform” and is an excellent effort by IFFCO to develop an online community for farmers. The main aim behind this initiative was to create a single unified platform to serve to the diverse needs of a farmer. This digital platform will offer various services, including rural e-commerce, classifieds, discussion forum, multilingual chat, and entertainment.
Dr Awasthi has spent over 5 decades working in the fertilizer industry. Further, due to his remarkable contributions to the agricultural sector, he has been honoured with many awards and recognitions.
